TRUST project meeting in Valencia

The engineering bureau Sieker is involved since 2011 with the TRansitions to the Urban Water Services of Tomorrow (TRUST) project. It is an integrated research project funded by the European Union. IPS is responsible for part of the work packages 43. Our scope is mainly focused on minimizing rainwater runoff into sewage systems.

In June 2014, a meeting of all TRUST partners took place in Valencia. IPS presented the results on decoupling measures for combined sewer overflows and applications results in two sub-basins for the city of Oslo.

Furthermore, an investigation to reduce rainwater runoff into the sewer system was also conducted for the city of Sandnes. These concrete measures, in highly urbanized areas, have been tested along a feasibility study. As a result, it can be stated that there are different options for rainwater management. They range from implementation of green roofs on flat roofs to underground storage elements (eg, trenches) under parking lots. The reduction of rainwater runoff in the channel could be detected with a hydrological modeling.  +++
